Romila Thapper, member of Philosophical society in America, and monumental Indian historian - whose principal area is the studies of ancient Indian History-, was born 30 November in 1931. Thapper hails from one of the Delhi's most privileged families.

Thapper is the author of several best-selling books, including 'A HISTORY OF INDIA'. She is not only a professor of Emertia at Jawaharlal Nehru (JNU) in New Delhi Since 1970-1990, but also an Indian international intellectual. Dr. Romila Thapper opposes to see Indian history as caste and religious discrimination.

In 2002, the Indian coalition government led by the Bharathiya Janatha Party changed the school text books of social sciences and especially history of 6th std which she had authored, because she described that the ancient people were commonly eating beef, and also indicated the Hindu caste system.  The Sang Parivars had included those works into black list to boycott her academic articles. Just like that she also defended against minority Dalit people for their own rights.

In 2019 Thapper declined a request for her new CV, made by the academic council committee at the Jawaharlal Nehru University to assess her status as professor Emertia. Although, Thapper is still working as visiting professor of some higher universities like Pencil Vaniya University and College of the France in Paris.
