Deliberate Withdrawal

The decades-long invasion comes to an end with the withdrawal of the U.S. Army and its allies claiming that the nation-building of Afghanistan is no longer their concern. Taliban’s victory long before it was anticipated has turned a backlash to the US supremacy over the nations. A significant question here to be considered is whether it was a calculated strategical move of the US on the ground of the Taliban takeover was already foreseen.

In terms of replacing the loss of $145 billion and thousands of their soldiers, the withdrawal was needed for America. Even some diplomats heralded it as a ‘political suicide’ the domestic challenges of the US were prioritized before Joe Biden and he had pledged to restore the soul of America. he stated that “ We went to war with clear goals. we achieved those objectives”. Amidst the horrific news of the chaotic situation and sweeping migration asserted the aftermath of the decision, Joe Biden said that he stands ‘squarely’ behind his decision and added there was never a good time to withdraw US forces.

The instability of this region made by the Taliban’s takeover was deliberately created. The consistent deploying forces over a decade, even after the assassination of Usama Bin Ladan, was part of strengthening the US in Central Asia against its rivals like Russia and China. Ostensibly, it was expensive and fatal. But on the other hand, the U.S. presence was solace in stabilizing a nation that would have a threat to its neighboring countries' administration.

With the withdrawal, Russia and China will take advantage of this situation if the current Afghan government keeps in its position. But if the Taliban government is replaced it will support the terrorist factions like the East Turkestan Islamic Movement in the Xinjiang region of China, an organization trying to establish an independent state for the Uyghur Muslims and the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan that has grown a major threat to Central Asia. Simultaneously America would have a favorable result affecting its rivals adversely.

Regarding the facts, the entire loss was to the Afghans. They were played as puppets of tribal warlords and imperialist supremes. It is not yet sure will history repeat freezing the hopes of Afghan soil.
