    Head covering plays a significant role in many religions. Islam is one of them. It has a clear explanation of what to wear, how to wear, and whom to wear. The hijab has become a turbulent issue for some groups of people all around the world. So first, we should have clarity in head covering in Islam.

Types of head covering;

1) The HIJAB is one name for a variety of similar headscarves. It is the most popular veil worn in the West. This veil consists of one or two scarves that cover the head and neck.
2) The NIQAB covers the entire body, head and face; however, an opening is left for the eyes. The two main styles of niqab are the half-niqab that consists of a headscarf and facial veil that leaves the eye and part of forehead visible and the full-niqab that leaves only a narrow slit for the eyes.
3) The CHADOR is a full body length shawl held closed at the neck by hand or pin. It covers the head and body but leaves the face completely visible.
4) The BURQA is a full-body veil. The wearer’s entire face and body are covered, and one sees through a mesh screen over the eyes.

     Muslims from different corners of the world, the last from Karnataka (India), is fighting for their right to wear Hijab(cover their head), but sadly even the other Muslims are confused that whether they are fighting for Hijab, niqab or burqa. In Islam wearing a hijab or covering hair is mandatory whereas using a burqa or niqab is preferred. So, for a Muslim woman Hijab is something inevitable.

     Verse 59 of Surah Al-Ahzab states,” O Prophet, tell your wives and your daughters and the women of the believers to bring down over themselves of their outer garments. That is more suitable that they will be recognised and not be abused. And ever is Allah forgiving and merciful.”

In the above verse even though the first addressing is to prophet’s wives and daughters the women of believers is followed by them, And moreover, the command is upon all the Muslim women.

As Karnataka belongs to India, it is their duty to protect the constitution of the country and the world-famous secularism also. As we know India is the biggest democratic secularistic country. The Constitution of India provide equality to all religions and it is very clearly mentioned in the Fundamental Rights of a citizen.

The Fundamental Rights were included in the constitution because they were considered essential for the development of the personality of every individual and to preserve human dignity. There are six fundamental rights(Article 12-35) recognised by the Indian constitution.
   The Right to Freedom of Religion, covered in Article 25-28, provides religious freedom to all citizens and ensures a secular state in India, According to the constitution, there is no official state religion, and the state is required to treat all religions equally, impartially and neutrally. Then how a state like Karnataka can act like they are not a part of India? They are not ready to protect the constitution of the country? And why the Supreme Court of India is not taking any action against the authorities of institutions?
The most surprising fact is that only the Muslim Hijab is irritating them and no any other religious identity? But why? How long will they continue this discrimination…?
