Silencing Truth: How Media Masked this Genocide

Author unveils how global mainstream media played a complicit role in obscuring the brutal realities of the Palestinian genocide. Through selective language, biased framing, and the suppression of key narratives, powerful outlets shaped public perception to favor Israel while silencing Palestinian suffering. The article questions journalism’s moral duty, revealing how the manipulation of truth not only eroded public trust but also delayed global outrage and humanitarian action.

When the much awaited news of declaring the proposed cease fire on palesitinian crisis began to appear on global mainstream medias, as an individual with genuine feelings, it initially offered a sense of relief amidst extensive human suffering even for while, unlike some other sociopaths, who brazenly supported israel on this unethical intensive offensive from the very beginning, at the same time, the delayed implementation of this ceasefire, despite the evident urgency and widespread public concern, there raises critical questions about the underlying factors that have contributed to this prolonged conflict, eventhough it is the boasting move of donald trump, while it was the concern of a large population, What were the reasons for extending this ceasefire while there is the vigilant presence of international governments and legal authorities, and apparently, those answers are too complicit in this genocide after Netanyahu.

To begin with, the debate over whether it was a genocide is no longer  relevant, due to the report of the UN commission of inquiry concluded the israeli authorities have committed four of five acts under the 1948 genocide convention, while we reflect on this dire humanitarian plight, in the matter deteriorating this offensive , mainstream medias and journalistic platforms definitely  hold a imperative share without any doughts, because We watched it quite plainly throughout this period , even the entire world watched them ,they failed to accomplish a vital obligation of imparting the true nature of genocide ,in the matter of some medias ,which did not even dared to remain impartial on the coverage , that  ensued on People's skepticism in media reports ,To be explicit on understanding the severity, the media's responsibility in the metaphorical realm is : when some one is saying it is raining outside and other is arguing it is not ,here the medias has to go ,wide open the window ,understand the ground reality , persuade the people and control the ambiguity ,moving swifty to real issue  ,this is how medias tend to be ,unfortunately ,infact ,what has been unfolding  is quite paradox to actuality ,to be evident in april 2024 a leaked new york times  memo instructed its entire reporters and editors to avoid words such as  genocide , ethinic cleansing ,occupied territory , refugee camps ,when reporting on gaza ,also palestin except in rare specific contexts, which remain as a peculiar stance on reporting the truth  . A recent empirical study conducted on around 14000 news articles from NYT, BBC, CNN, and LOS ANGELES TIMES, oh! all of them are mainstream media outlets. In the first year of genocide, they found three systematic biases in Western media on the Israeli faction, such as Israeli victims framed as identifiable individuals but Palestinians as anonymous masses, and co. Intentionally, not accidentally.

In the wake of this double-standard human butchering campaign, melancholically, it needed almost a year to witness trends in public venues and platforms in favor of Palestine; until then, even a great deal of renowned and well-known figures and programs were bragging and airing their penchant for the israeli occupation and investing complete conviction on hamas, by not even reckoning with the sense of impartiality. that largely undermine the trust possessed by the media. Earlier, a center of media monitoring report on media bias on gaza found that emotive language appears 11 times more often to describe Israelis as victims than Palestinians, oh! How ironical, you just cast back the two corresponding panorama pictures of most affected israeli territory and gaza strip, diffrence will be enoromous .moreover israeli right to defend itself gets higher prominence than any citation of palestinian rights. Also, they typically frame this war as an Israel and hamas war to permeate the notion of a sheer clash against terror, for instance, in washington post, an article about the death of a prominent palestinian doctor used the framing of military vindication, arguing it was targeting a human operative, and then cited civilian casualties as under review rather than presenting the attack as an apparent violation of humanitarian law. it doesn’t seem bizarre since being a person consistently used media for the past year; due to that this is common, particularly in US outlets, according to media analysis, to provide weight to it, here, the human right watch have observed that meta (Facebook, Instagram) has removed hundreds of pro palestinian posts globally.

In tandem with that, bias in reporting does not just rupture the reality; it shrinks pressure on political leaders to act, who are the vital accountable ones in it, when media avoid genocide language, raise doubts about Palestinian sources, or frame sufferings as balanced, they sideline moral urgency and accountability. Vitally, throughout this kind of manipulated silence, they inflict a delay in humanitarian responses, thanks to the media.

Along with it, their strategy of selectively targeting the journalists is obvious, that Israel is doing their utmost to conceal the reality from humanity. Almost 200 journalists and media workers have been killed in this conflict; as we predicted, 95% of them are Palestinians.

On the other hand, I cannot even accidentally neglect to praise the admirable job carried out by some brave and outstanding media, who reported timely, uncensored updates occurring in Palestine; conducted exclusive debates; participated in Israeli leaders' questioning of their unjust deeds; made them condemn; and did everything in their power to relentlessly publicize the truth. Firms such as Al Jazeera, Middle East Eye, Zeteo, etc., are some of them.

In conclusion, this horrific genocide has shed light on some unspoken realities in the media, which society blindly believes to be the sole source of truth. This convinces the whole generation to what extent we can rely on the media.
